An Act relative to payment in lieu of taxes.



��������������� Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

That Chapter 58 of the General Laws be amended in Section 15A by inserting after the words �federal government� the following: �and land under the care and control of the commonwealth and used as a jail or house of correction and which was at the time of its acquisition by the commonwealth under the care and control of county government.�

Provided further that any county correctional facility whose operating expenses paid by the Commonwealth exceeds 50 percent shall be deemed a state facility for lieu of taxes on state-owned land purposes.

That Chapter 58 of the General Laws be amended in Section 13 by inserting at the end the following:� �;and of all land held by the commonwealth and used as a jail or house of correction.�����������
