An Act relative to floor finishing products .



��������������� Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

����������� SECTION 1. Chapter 94 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting the following new subsection:

FLOOR FINISHING PRODUCTS

Section 288A 

Sections 288A � 288B apply to the sale or for use, and use of flammable and combustible floor finishing products.

Section 288B  Definitions

Floor Finishing Product. Any liquid or mixture used for any floor finishing operation, or formulated, marketed or otherwise intended for such use, including but not limited to any paint, varnish, lacquer, stain, or wax.

Floor Finishing Operation. The sanding of and application of any penetrating sealant or  liquid coating that forms a hardened film to the surface of a wood floor, thereby altering the wood surface

Section 288C  General Prohibitions.

It shall be unlawful to sell or offer for sale in Massachusetts any flammable floor finishing product with a flashpoint below 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
