An Act relative to membership of the Cosmetology Board of Registration.



��������������� Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

����������� SECTION 1.  Section 42 of Chapter 13 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 2, the word �seven� and inserting in place thereof the following figure:�

            SECTION 2: Said section 42 of said chapter 13, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out the second paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:�

            The governor shall appoint members to the board from among candidates who meet the following qualifications: (a) 5 members who shall be licensed cosmetologists, in compliance with sections 87T to 87KK, inclusive, of chapter 112, one of whom shall own a licensed cosmetology school and have a minimum of a bachelors degree or who has at least 10 years experience in the field, one of whom has attained a minimum of a bachelors degree shall be a type one hairdresser for at least 10 years and who shall be a member of the Massachusetts Cosmetology Association for at least 10 years, one of whom shall be a licensed type one hairdresser and shop owner for at least 10 years, one of whom shall be a licensed vocational educator from the public sector who has taught cosmetology for at least 10 years, and one of whom shall be a licensed aesthetician for at least 10 years; (b) 2 of whom shall be a representative of the general public, one of whom shall be a parent of a cosmetology student, and one of whom shall have no direct affiliation with the practice of cosmetology; and (c) 1 of whom shall be a member from the department of education and 1 of whom shall be a member from the division of apprenticeship training of the department of labor and workforce development.
