An Act to Promote Affordable Housing in the Commonwealth .
Be
it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 40B of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting, after section 21, the following section:-
Section 21A. A local housing authority shall be allowed to buy property for the purpose of creating an affordable unit. Such land or property, when purchased by a local housing authority, shall be deemed affordable in perpetuity. All such units must be counted as part of the inclusive municipality’s affordable housing stock as counted by the state.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
