Summary

Amend KRS 160.180 to require a candidate for school board to have a national and state criminal history background check by the Kentucky State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation to confirm that the person does not have a record of a sex crime or criminal offense against a minor as defined in KRS 17.500, as a violent offender as defined in KRS 17.165, for an unlawful transaction with a minor as set forth in KRS 530.064, or as a convicted felon who has not had his or her civil rights restored; provide that the results of the criminal history background check shall be sent to the State Board of Elections, which shall notify the Attorney General of the Commonwealth if a criminal record is confirmed; provide that the Attorney General shall remove the person from office pursuant to KRS 415.050 and 415.060.
