Summary

Direct the Legislative Research Commission to establish a Kentucky Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Task Force; provide that the purpose of the task force is to study the use of volunteer firefighters in Kentucky, the factors impacting the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters, and the options used in Kentucky and across the nation to recruit and retain volunteer firefighters; require the task force to develop consensus recommendations to improve the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters in the Commonwealth of Kentucky; name the membership of the task force; require its final report to be submitted to the Legislative Research Commission by December 1, 2014; and provide that the Legislative Research Commission has authority to alternatively assign the issues identified in the Resolution to interim joint committees or subcommittees thereof.
