SENATE RESOLUTION

     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Zak Irvin.

    Whereas, Zak Irvin has been named the 2013 Indiana Mr. Basketball;

    Whereas, Zak was the overwhelming choice for the top individual honor, receiving 101 votes of the coaches and media members polled;

    Whereas, Zak scored a total of 1,239 points and accumulated 402 rebounds, 164 assists, and 105 steals while playing on the varsity team for Hamilton Southeastern High School;

    Whereas, Zak has committed to play college basketball for the University of Michigan;

    Whereas, Playing high school and college basketball is a family tradition for Zak Irvin, as his parents both played basketball in high school and college;

    Whereas, Zak has excelled in the classroom as well as on the court; and

    Whereas, Outstanding achievement merits special recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    
    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Zak Irvin on his selection as the 2013 Indiana Mr. Basketball and wishes him continued success in all his future endeavors.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Zak Irvin.
