Citations Affected: Articles 1 and 2 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana.

Synopsis: Elections by secret ballot. Adds a new section to the Constitution of the State of Indiana to provide that if any Indiana or federal law requires or permits an election for any designation or authorization of employee representation, the right of any individual to vote by secret ballot in any such election is guaranteed. Provides that all elections by the people shall be by secret ballot.

Effective: This proposed amendment must be agreed to by two consecutive general assemblies and ratified by a majority of the state's voters voting on the question to be effective.

    A JOINT RESOLUTION proposing amendments to Articles 1 and 2 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana concerning secret ballots.

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: CON 1; (11)SJ9612.2. -->     SECTION 2. ARTICLE 1 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF INDIANA IS AMENDED BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS: Section 39. The right to vote by secret ballot is fundamental. If any Indiana or federal law requires or permits an election for any designation or authorization of employee representation, the right of any individual to vote by secret ballot in any such election is guaranteed.
