SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Maureen Bard.

    Whereas, Maureen Bard joined the staff of the Legislative Services Agency on November 18, 1996, and will retire on May 10, 2013, after a very successful career;

    Whereas, During her career, Maureen was involved in four redistricting efforts: 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2010,

    Whereas, At the time of her retirement, Maureen held the title of Co-Manager of the Office of Census Data, Legislative Services Agency.

    Whereas, Maureen was originally hired in a temporary position as the Co-Manager of the Block Boundary Suggestion Program, but her employment became permanent when the Block Boundary Suggestion Program became the Office of Census Data in the Legislative Services Agency;

    Whereas, During her time at the Legislative Services Agency, Maureen was a diligent and capable worker who gladly accepted all assignments and completed them in a thorough and efficient manner;

    Whereas, Originally from Orville, Ohio, Maureen graduated from Ohio State University in June 1973 with a B.S. in Secondary Education and from Indiana University in June 1975 with an M.A. in Geography;

    Whereas, Working as a freelance writer, Maureen became

a published author with the publication of "Getting Organized For Your New Baby" by Meadowbrook Publication, Simon & Schuster Distribution;

    Whereas, Before joining the staff of the Legislative Services Agency, Maureen worked as a social studies teacher in the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township and an associate instructor at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, where she designed and implemented geography courses emphasizing skill development, local applications, and critical thinking skills used by more than 1,500 students;

    Whereas, Recognizing her great skills, IUPUI nominated Maureen for the Outstanding Associate Instructor award;

    Whereas, As if in preparation for her upcoming job with the Legislative Services Agency, Maureen also served as the director of special projects for the state election board where she developed and implemented a statewide computerized precinct mapping project, provided training on precinct mapping applications, and prepared and presented reports to the Indiana State Election Board;

    Whereas, Maureen will be greatly missed by her friends and co-workers in the Legislative Services Agency; and

    Whereas, Maureen and her husband, Martin Bard, Ph.D, are the proud parents of daughters Sara Ratliff and Madeline (Maddie) Toupalik and Boston Terriers Darryl and Radar: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
the House of Representatives concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates Maureen Bard on her retirement from the Legislative Services Agency, thanks her for her dedicated and outstanding service to the state of Indiana, and wishes Maureen and her family much happiness in the coming years.
    SECTION 2. That the a copy of this resolution be transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to Maureen Bard and her family.
