    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION memorializing the life of Karl Morris Sharp.

    Whereas, Karl Sharp was born in Indianapolis on March 20, 1929. He graduated from Muncie Burris High School in 1946 and went on to attend Purdue University, where he was a member of the Rochdale House and played flute in the marching band;

    Whereas, After graduating from Purdue with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951, Karl began a career with Perfect Circle, later to be merged with Dana Corp, devoting 41 years as an engineer and sales representative and retiring in 1989 as a national sales manager;

    Whereas, Karl was active in his community; his involvement included the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, the Yokefellows at Earlham College, and leadership roles with both the Hagerstown Jaycees and the United Way. Karl was also an active member of the Central United Methodist Church in Richmond for the past 40 years;

    Whereas, Moreover, Karl devoted himself to his community through consistent engagement in local government and politics, serving as an election official in Hagerstown, a Richmond City Council member from 1999 to 2007, Chairman of the Wayne County Republicans from

1989 to 1993, and a delegate to the 1992 Republican National Convention ;

    Whereas, Karl Sharp passed away on March 4, 2013 in Centerville at the age of 83. He was a loving husband to Majorie, his wife of 62 years, a devoted father to their three children, Terry, Gail, and Karen, and a beloved grandfather to five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and

    Whereas, Karl's dedication to his community, his family, and his faith will not be forgotten: Therefore,



Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:

    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly honors the life of Karl Morris Sharp.    
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to members of his family.
