SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. _____

    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Wes-Del High School girls volleyball team on winning the first state championship in school history.

    Whereas, The Wes-Del Warriors girls volleyball team swept Trinity Lutheran to capture the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class A State Championship;

    Whereas, The Warriors commanded early leads in all three sets and never backed down. They won by the scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-22;

    Whereas, With this victory, the volleyball team became the first sports team from Wes-Del High School to win a State Championship;

    Whereas, The team made the State Championships last year, but fell short of the title. That disappointing second place finish gave the team extra motivation to win the State Championship this year;

    Whereas, Seniors Alexa Antrim, Marisa Matthews, and Lindsay Niccum combined for 45 digs during the match. Alexa was also named the Mental Attitude Award winner, an award given to an outstanding senior;

    Whereas, Wes-Del's goal at the beginning of the season

was to become State Champions. Through hard work, dedication, and focus, the team has made that goal a reality: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates the Wes-Del High School girls volleyball team on winning the school's first State Championship.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Wes-Del Volleyball Coach Biff Wilson; Athletic Director, Kyle Mealy; and Superintendent, Stephen R. McColley.
