A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the many contributions of Don Schumacher Racing to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.

RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the many
contributions of Don Schumacher Racing to the city of Indianapolis
and the state of Indiana.
Whereas, The motorsports industry has stimulated
economic growth in our state using the abundant talent and
resources available to the industry in Indiana;
Whereas, The motorsports industry has helped to put
Indiana front and center in the racing world, based on the
fact that some of the world's premier motorsports attractions
are hosted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including
the Indianapolis 500, the Brickyard 400, and the Red Bull
Indianapolis MotoGP; Indiana is also home to the NHRA
Drag Racing U.S. Nationals and many other major
motorsports events;
Whereas, More than 1,600 motorsports companies are
based in Indiana including racing teams, manufacturers, and
service companies that represent every area of motorsports,
including many of the nation's top professional racing teams;
Whereas, Don Schumacher Racing is owned by Chicago
area industrialist Don Schumacher and operated from the
team's Brownsburg headquarters;
Whereas, Don Schumacher Racing is the largest team in
professional drag racing;
Whereas, In 2012, Don Schumacher Racing won both the
National Hot Rod Association Top Fuel (Dragster) and
Funny Car Championships, a spectacular feat not often
accomplished by a single team;
Whereas, In an attempt to help those in need, Don
Schumacher Racing conducts an annual fund raising event
during the U.S. Nationals Drag Races in Indianapolis for
Riley Children's Hospital, raising over $200,000 in the last
seven years;
Whereas, Don Schumacher Racing has developed an
ongoing relationship with the Indiana University, Purdue
University at Indianapolis Motorsports Engineering
program; and
Whereas, It is Indiana's goal to continue to develop strong,
lasting relationships among the racing community and the
business community, government, and educational
institutions: Therefore,
of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
the House of Representatives concurring:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly thanks Don Schumacher Racing for their many contributions to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.
SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution be transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to Don Schumacher Racing.
