    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Dean Doerffler on his retirement.

     Whereas, Dean Doerffler served as an athletic coach at Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne for over 30 years;

    Whereas, Coach Doerffler graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School. He went on to Ball State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in business education. He continued his education at Indiana University - Fort Wayne, where he earned a master of science degree and an administrative license in the field of secondary education;

    Whereas, After earning his bachelor's degree, Coach Doerffler married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Meyer. Together, the couple have three children - Ryan, Jason, and Angela;
        
    Whereas, Doerffler coached at South Side High School and Northrop High School before returning to Concordia Lutheran High School. Under his leadership, Concordia won regional and sectional titles in 2002 and 2007;    

    Whereas, Coach Doerffler's devotion to high school athletics led him to serve as Membership Chairperson,

Junior Director, and Senior Director of the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators' Association ;

    Whereas, According to his colleagues, Coach Doerffler is a Concordia alum who lives by the Concordia Lutheran High School athletics motto, “We believe that the single most important aspect of the Concordia Lutheran High School Athletic Program is the development of the student athlete in a Christ-centered environment”; and

    Whereas, Coach Doerffler has been a mentor to many students and always expects 110% of his players and of himself. Coach Doerffler will be missed by Concordia staff and students alike: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates Coach Dean Doerffler on his retirement and wishes him luck in his future endeavors.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Coach Dean Doerffler, his wife Barbara, and Concordia Lutheran High School.
