    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION memorializing Officer Renee Rickard.
    
    Whereas, State Capitol Police Officer Renee Rickard, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2010;

    Whereas, Renee Rickard served as a State Capitol Police Officer since October 2008;
    
    Whereas, After graduating from Pike High School in 2001, Renee Rickard attended the United States Air Force Academy and Purdue University;

    Whereas, During Renee Rickard's service as a Cadet in the United States Air Force Academy, she received numerous awards, including a National Defense Service Medal;

    Whereas, Those who knew Renee Rickard describe her as a caring person, dedicated to serving others with excellence, dignity, and respect;

    Whereas, Renee Rickard exemplified these qualities as an Indiana State Capitol Police Officer, a career she was passionate about and greatly enjoyed;

    Whereas, Renee Rickard always looked for ways to

improve herself as a police officer. She studied mixed martial arts, practiced her proficiency with her sidearm, and could speak Spanish, all of which helped her become a better police officer;

    Whereas, Off-duty, Renee Rickard enjoyed spending time with her two dogs, riding her motorcycle, snow boarding, and hiking in Colorado; and

    Whereas, State Capitol Police Officer Renee Rickard will be remembered for her dedicated service to her country and the State of Indiana: Therefore,


Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


                        
    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly memorializes Officer Renee Rickard.    
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Eugene and Karyl Rickard, and the Indiana State Police.
