A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Margret Robb on
being named Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and winning the
Bar's David Hamacher Public Service Award.
Whereas, For twenty years, Chief Judge-Elect Margret
Robb has been engaged in the general practice of law. Most
recently, she was selected as one of the 2010 recipients of the
Indiana University Alumni Association President's Award;
Whereas, Margret Robb has both a bachelor's and
master's degree in business economics from Purdue
University, earned her Juris Doctorate magna cum laude
from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, and
graduated from the Graduate Program for Indiana Judges;
Whereas, Recognizing her important contributions to the
appellate practice, Chief Judge Margret Robb was awarded
the Indiana State Bar Association's David Hamacher Public
Service Award at the ISBA's annual meeting;
Whereas, The David Hamacher Public Service Award,
sponsored by the state bar's Appellate Practice Section,
honors high moral character and ethical standards, service
to the community and peacemaking qualities;
Whereas, In addition to her many accomplishments, Judge Robb is also the recipient of the Antoinette Dakin Leach Award from the Indianapolis Bar Association's Women and the Law Division, which honors outstanding women in the legal profession;
Whereas, The Appellate Practice Section cited Chief Judge Margret Robb's dedication to the practice of law, her commitment to Continuing Legal Education on state and national levels, and many contributions to community service;
Whereas, Margret Robb has been selected by the Court
of Appeals of Indiana as Chief Judge of the Court, making
her the first woman to serve as the leader of the Court of
Appeals of Indiana; and
Whereas, Chief Judge Margret Robb has held numerous
other positions within the state and national bar associations
and legal related organizations. She has received numerous
awards for her contributions to the judicial system, and as
Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, she will continue to
make her mark on the legal system: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates Margret
Robb on being named Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and on
being awarded the Bar's David Hamacher Public Service Award.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Chief Judge Margret Robb.
