SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION memorializing Galen Goode.

    Whereas, the state of Indiana and the Indiana Commission on Mental Health and Addiction understand the importance of providing behavioral health services within our communities;

    Whereas, Galen Goode previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Center, Inc., for over 22 years until his passing in October, 2011, and worked in the behavioral health industry for more than 42 years;

    Whereas, through strong advocacy efforts, Galen Goode was instrumental in helping Indiana's community mental health centers enhance the level of service provided to clients;

    Whereas, Galen Goode spent countless hours working on the integration of behavioral health and developmentally disabled individuals and the coordination of behavioral health services with hospital based services;

    Whereas, Galen Goode played a major role in developing policy initiatives aimed at reforming Indiana's mental health system, including his work as a long-time member of the Commission on Mental Health;

    Whereas, Galen Goode was extensively involved in community service programs and activities in both Terre Haute and Sullivan, Indiana;



    Whereas, the members of the Indiana Commission on Mental Health and Addiction support and approve this resolution professing Galen Goode's years of dedicated service to the people of Indiana and Indiana's mental health system; and

    Whereas, Galen Goode exemplified dedication and compassion in working to improve the care of Indiana's citizens who are mentally ill or developmentally disabled or have other chronic health conditions: Therefore,

    Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana Commission on Mental Health and Addiction, as established by the Indiana General Assembly, acknowledges the many contributions Galen Goode made to our state and its citizens through his dedication and hard work in representing Indiana's most vulnerable Hoosiers in need of health related services.
    SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution be transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to the family of Galen Goode.
