Synopsis: Public employees and prohibited use of computers.
Prohibits state employees and employees of political subdivisions from
using electronic mail addresses maintained by the state or political
subdivisions if the electronic mail is advocating for a political
candidate or advocating a political opinion or position. Prohibits state
employees and employees of political subdivisions from using
electronic mail addresses maintained by the state or political
subdivisions to search for, view, or send sexually explicit material.
Effective: July 1, 2012.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning state
and local administration.
(1) with a domain name that contains "in.gov";

(b) A state officer or employee, former state officer or employee, special state appointee, or former special state appointee may not use a computer with an electronic mail address:
(1) with a domain name that contains "in.gov";
(2) of any agency in the legislative, executive, or judicial
branch of state government; or
(3) of any political subdivision;
to search for, view, or send sexually explicit material, as defined in
IC 24-4-16.4-2.
(b) An officer or employee or former officer or employee of a political subdivision may not use a computer with an electronic mail address that is maintained by the political subdivision to search for, view, or send sexually explicit material, as defined in IC 24-4-16.4-2.
