Synopsis: Legislative business per diems. Provides a greater
legislative business per diem amount for legislators who reside more
than 50 miles from the state capitol building.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning the
general assembly.
(1) for a member of the general assembly whose place of residence is not more than fifty (50) miles from the state capitol, the maximum daily amount allowable to employees of the executive branch of the federal government for subsistence expenses while away from home in travel status in the Indianapolis area; and
(2) for a member of the general assembly whose place of residence is more than fifty (50) miles from the state capitol, one hundred ten percent (110%) the maximum daily amount allowable to employees of the executive branch of the federal
government for subsistence expenses while away from home
in travel status in the Indianapolis area.
(b) The legislative business per diem changes each time there is
a change in that maximum daily amount.
(c) The distance between a member's residence and the state
capitol shall be determined using the shortest of the more
commonly traveled routes between the two (2) locations.
