Synopsis: School recognition programs. Provides that the department
of education may not establish criteria for a nonpublic school to be
eligible for recognition for the school's performance that are different
from criteria used for a public school of the same grade levels. Defines
"recognition program".

SECTION 1. IC 20-31-12 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
JULY 1, 2013]:
Chapter 12. School Recognition Programs
Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "recognition program" refers to a system by which a school is recognized for the school's performance, including programs established by statute, rule, or department policy.
Sec. 2. The department may not establish criteria for a nonpublic school to be eligible for a recognition program that are different from the criteria established for a public school of the same grade levels.
