Synopsis: State party campaign expenditures. Provides that an expenditure made by the state committee of a political party to influence the nomination or election of a candidate to an elected office other than a federal office is limited to an expenditure to influence the nomination or election of a candidate who belongs to the same political party as the state committee.

Effective: July 1, 2011.

    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning elections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 3-6-1-16; (11)IN0150.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 3-6-1-16 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2011]: Sec. 16. (a) This section does not apply to an expenditure to influence the nomination or election of a candidate to a federal office.
    (b) An expenditure made by the state committee of a political party to influence the nomination or election of a candidate to an elected office is limited to an expenditure to influence the nomination or election of a candidate who belongs to the same political party as the state committee.
