Synopsis: Study of pharmacy issues. Requires the health finance commission to study during the 2011 legislative interim the following : (1) Whether a pharmacist should be required to notify the prescribing physician and inform the patient if the pharmacist selects a drug other than the brand name drug listed on an antiepileptic drug prescription; and (2) Whether a pharmacist should be required to dispense a prescription in a manner to allow label accessibility to an individual who is blind.

    A BILL FOR AN ACT concerning professions and occupations.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: ; (11)SB0025.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2011] (a) As used in this SECTION, "commission" refers to the health finance commission established by IC 2-5-23-3.
    (b) During the 2011 interim, the commission shall study whether legislation should be introduced to require pharmacists to do the following:
        (1) Notify the prescribing physician when the pharmacist selects a drug other than the brand name drug listed on an antiepileptic drug prescription.
        (2) Dispense a prescription in a manner to allow prescription drug label information to be accessible to an individual who is blind or visually impaired.
