A HOUSE RESOLUTION to recognize the sufferers of Myotonic Dystrophy in Indiana, and to raise awareness of the disease.

Whereas, Myotonic Dystrophy is the most common form of muscular dystrophy to arise in adulthood; and

Whereas, there is no cure for Myotonic Dystrophy; and

Whereas, sufferers of Myotonic Dystrophy must struggle against a range of often debilitating symptoms, requiring constant effort, vigilance and hopefulness; and

Whereas, the sufferers of Myotonic Dystrophy, as well as their friends and families, require the continuing assistance and compassion of their neighbors in their own communities and across Indiana: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives officially recognizes the struggle of those who suffer from Myotonic Dystrophy, and honors their courage, patience and perseverance.
SECTION 2. That the House urges all branches of government, as well as the citizens of Indiana, to be mindful of the problem of Myotonic Dystrophy, to raise awareness of it in others, and to take any action they can to alleviate the suffering of those who are afflicted by it.
