    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding.

    Whereas, on January 5, 1911, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity was established by founding members Elder Watson Diggs, John Milton Lee, Byron K. Armstrong, Guy Levis Grant, Ezra D. Alexander, Henry T. Asher, Marcus P. Blackmore, Paul W. Caine, Edward G. Irvin, and George W. Edmonds, on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana; and,

    Whereas, Kappa Alpha Psi, a college fraternity comprised of active undergraduate and alumni chapters on major campuses and cities throughout the country, welcomes men of all races, creeds, and national origins without exclusion; and,

    Whereas, Kappa Alpha Psi's constitution is dedicated to principles of achievement through a fully democratic fraternity, and the motto "Achievement in every field of human endeavor" is realized as Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity moves steadily forward with leadership and mentoring programs to expand productivity and extend positive influence through community service and outreach; and,


    Whereas, Kappa Alpha Psi's membership totals more than 150,000 college men with its headquarters located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and,

    Whereas, Kappa Alpha Psi celebrates its centennial in the city of Indianapolis from July 5-10, 2011 near the birthplace of the fraternity: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly takes great pleasure in recognizing those institutions which contribute to the benefit of their communities and ultimately to all the citizens of this State.
    SECTION 2. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding.
    SECTION 3. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the International Headquarters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
