RESOLUTION



        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing Boy Scout Troop 1, Jeffersonville.

    Whereas, The Boy Scouts of America Troop 1 from Jeffersonville has been continuously chartered since March 1911;

    Whereas, Boy Scout Troop 1 celebrated its 100th anniversary on March 8, 2011, at the Indiana Statehouse;

    Whereas, To recognize this special occasion, the troop led the Indiana House of Representatives in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance;

    Whereas, The scouts and their leaders inspired the legislators with their dedication to and love of their county;

    Whereas, These young scouts represent a bright future for our state; and

    Whereas, The Boy Scouts of America were founded in order to promote character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness for boys, all of which help to develop the youth of our state into fine citizens: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates Boy Scout Troop 1 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its charter.


    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to troop members Zack Nelson, Matt Purlee, Brent Mode, Jonathan Harlan, Skyler Jones, Andrew Peterson, Chris West, and Greg Driver; Assistant Scoutmasters Chuck Volmer, Annette Mode, and Mitchele Harlan; and Scoutmaster Gary Purlee.
