HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION

        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the United Ways of Indiana.

    Whereas, Charitable giving and volunteerism are of incredible value to our state and are strongly endorsed and encouraged by the Indiana General Assembly;

    Whereas, There are 62 local United Way and United Fund organizations and their partners spanning all corners of Indiana who have provided services in all 92 counties;

    Whereas, Local and state policymakers have served as volunteers with United Ways and their partner organizations;

    Whereas, Their efforts help to understand community needs, obtain critical resources, and generate the needed local results;

    Whereas, United Ways assist with the specific needs and aspirations of their respective communities, including United Way network goals of long term social changes that produce healthy, educated, and financially stable individuals and families;

    Whereas, United Ways continue to be a force behind Indiana's 211 information and referral service, which last year connected over 500,000 Hoosiers to government, community, and faith-based services;

    Whereas, United Way organizations advocate for lasting change that improves the conditions for all, including our most vulnerable neighbors;

    Whereas, Collectively, United Way organizations mobilize thousands of volunteers each year, strengthening the fiber of our communities and mobilizing the caring power of people; and

    Whereas, United Way organizations are responsible for garnering charitable contributions that reinvest nearly $100,000,000 annually back to the local residents and communities they serve: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the United Way volunteers, donors, staff, and community partners for their outstanding contributions to the state of Indiana and their tireless efforts to make Indiana communities stronger and more viable places to live.
