A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the many contributions of Target Chip Ganassi Racing to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.

RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the many
contributions of Target Chip Ganassi Racing to the city of Indianapolis
and the state of Indiana.
Whereas, The motorsports industry has helped to put
Indiana front and center in the racing world based on the
fact that some of the world's premier motorsports attractions
are hosted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including
the Indianapolis 500, the Brickyard 400, and the Red Bull
Indianapolis MotoGP; Indiana is also home to the NHRA
Drag Racing U.S. Nationals and many other major
motorsports events;
Whereas, Known as the "Racing Capital of the World",
Indiana has a long heritage of racing enthusiasts and a love
of the sport that will never die;
Whereas, More than 1,600 motorsports companies are
based in Indiana, including racing teams, manufacturers,
and service companies that represent every area of
motorsports, including many of the nation's top professional
racing teams;
Whereas, Target Chip Ganassi Racing was founded in 1990
by Chip Ganassi and has the longest running sponsorship in
IndyCar history with Target Stores;
Whereas, Located in the Park 100 industrial area on Indianapolis' northwest side, Target Chip Ganassi Racing operates a high tech facility employing management,
engineers, technicians, and highly skilled mechanics;
Whereas, In 2012 Target Chip Ganassi Racing won the
Indianapolis 500 with driver Dario Franchitti;
Whereas, The second entry from the Target Chip Ganassi
team driven by Scott Dixon finished the Indianapolis 500 in
second place;
Whereas, The 2012 Indianapolis 500 win marked the fourth
win for the Target Chip Ganassi Racing team with the others
occurring in 2000 with Juan Pablo Montoya, 2008 with Scott
Dixon, and 2010 with Dario Franchitti; and
Whereas, It is Indiana's goal to continue to develop strong,
lasting relationships among the racing community and the
business community, government, and educational
institutions: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly thanks Target
Chip Ganassi Racing for its many contributions to the city of
Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to Target Chip
Ganassi Racing.
