A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the high school and junior high school algebra students in the Brown County Schools for their outstanding performance on the 2011 end-of-course Algebra I assessment test.

RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the high school and
junior high school algebra students in the Brown County Schools for
their outstanding performance on the 2011 end-of-course Algebra I
assessment test.
Whereas, The Brown County Schools have been working
hard to improve the math scores of the schools' students for
several years;
Whereas, All the hard work paid off recently when the
end-of-course Algebra I assessment scores from spring 2011
at Brown County High School were the highest among
Indiana public schools and earned the schools the number 5
position among all Indiana schools;
Whereas, The pass rate for all Brown County Schools high
school and junior high school students who took the 2011
Algebra I ECA (end of course assessment) was 96.7 percent;
Whereas, 100 percent of the participating junior high
students passed the test in 2011, an accomplishment that only
213 middle schools have achieved;
Whereas, Of the 138 Brown County High School students
who took the test, 132 passed, giving them a 95.7 percent
passing rate, ranking the high school fifth among Indiana's
grade 9 - 12 schools; and
Whereas, Academic accomplishments such as this deserve special recognition: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates the
Brown County Schools and the students taking the 2011 Algebra I ECA
on their outstanding accomplishment and urges the schools and the
students to continue to set their goals high.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Mr. David Shaffer,
Superintendent of the Brown County Schools.
