Synopsis: Limitation on school starting date. Prohibits public schools
and accredited nonpublic schools from beginning student instructional
days for a school year before September 1, beginning with the
2013-2014 school year. Excludes a year-round school, a school that has
a balanced calendar of quarters, and a school that coordinates the
school's calendar with that of a postsecondary educational institution.
Effective: July 1, 2012.

(b) This section does not apply to the following schools:
(1) A year-round school that has a calendar in which a break between instructional days does not exceed six (6) weeks.
(2) A school that has a balanced calendar of quarters.
(3) A school that coordinates the school's calendar with that of a postsecondary educational institution.
(c) Beginning with the 2013-2014 school year, student instructional days for a school year may not begin before September 1.
