Bill Title: Amends the Educator Licensure Article of the School Code. Provides that after January 1, 2014, the State Board of Education shall ensure that the curriculum for all approved educator preparation programs includes and that all prospective teachers pursuing Professional Educator Licenses receive instruction on the linguistic, cultural, evaluative, and instructional methods related to the education of English Language Learners. Requires this instruction to be provided in 2 required courses within the educator preparation program, which shall consist of (i) one course on second language acquisition and instruction and (ii) one course on the socio-cultural and family and community aspects relevant to the education of English Language Learners. Effective immediately.
