2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dorothy Irene Sherman of Gillespie, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on August 27, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was born in Gillespie to George | ||||||
6 | and Tena (Harms) Weidner on November 26, 1921; she married Roy | ||||||
7 | S. "Sadie" Sherman in Edwardsville on October 18, 1947; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was a business woman in Gillespie | ||||||
9 | for 75 years; she and her husband started SuperBowl of | ||||||
10 | Gillespie in 1959; they also founded the Knights Inn Motel in | ||||||
11 | 1975; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was a member of United Methodist | ||||||
13 | Women, the United States Bowling Congress, and Royal Neighbors; | ||||||
14 | and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was preceded in death by her | ||||||
16 | parents; her husband, Roy; her son, Robert D. Sherman; her | ||||||
17 | sister, Aurela Weidner; and her brother, Harold Weidner; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman is survived by her son, Roy W. | ||||||
19 | (Vicki) Sherman; her daughter-in-law, Betty Sherman; her | ||||||
20 | grandchildren, Kerri (Kent) Frensko, Brad Sherman (Tiffany |
