1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Patricia Carolyn Miller, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on July 2, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Patricia Miller was born on October 2, 1936 in | ||||||
6 | North Chicago; she attended Holy Family Grade School in North | ||||||
7 | Chicago and Waukegan High School; she married Bennett Miller on | ||||||
8 | October 9, 1954 at Holy Family Church; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Patricia Miller served as a school secretary in | ||||||
10 | North Chicago School District #64 for 23 years; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Patricia Miller and her husband were members of | ||||||
12 | the Lake County Social and Golf Club, called the "Lucky Group", | ||||||
13 | for 30 years; her quick wit, love of laughter, and enjoyment | ||||||
14 | for the game of golf epitomized the essence of the club; she | ||||||
15 | was crowned the first "Mrs. Lucky", an annual award from the | ||||||
16 | club; she was also an active member of the Waushara Country | ||||||
17 | Club of Wautoma, generously volunteering her time to various | ||||||
18 | club activities; she was the first woman to serve as a board | ||||||
19 | member of the club; and

20 | WHEREAS, Patricia Miller enjoyed fine writing, singing, | ||||||
21 | dancing, theatre, and traveling with her husband; they spent |

1 | many summers with their family on Pearl Lake and winters | ||||||
2 | golfing in Florida; she also enjoyed music and led many | ||||||
3 | Waukegan Knights of Columbus sing-alongs in the 1970s; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Patricia Miller was preceded in death by her | ||||||
5 | parents, James and Frances Marks, and her siblings, Loretta | ||||||
6 | Edwards, James Marks, Margaret Kimpler, and Robert Marks; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Patricia Miller is survived by her husband, | ||||||
8 | Bennett; her children, Christian (Mai-Lis), Lisa (Jeff) | ||||||
9 | Kasper, Mark (Julie), and Susan (Bill) Harkin; 16 | ||||||
10 | grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Jane | ||||||
11 | Hissem; her brother-in-law, Joe Miller; and many nieces, | ||||||
12 | nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
15 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Patricia Carolyn | ||||||
16 | Miller; and be it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Patricia Miller as an expression of | ||||||
19 | our sympathy.
