2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jeffrey Arthur Lovett, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | July 10, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett was born on March 18, 1958 in | ||||||
6 | Temple, Texas; his parents were Donald Robert Lovett and Carol | ||||||
7 | Joan Pulver; he married Lisa Linn Reed on February 14, 1975; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett graduated from Dixon High School in | ||||||
10 | 1976, Sauk Valley College in 1978, and Northern Illinois | ||||||
11 | University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in | ||||||
12 | finance; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Jeffrey Lovett | ||||||
14 | served as a state bank examiner with the Illinois Commissioner | ||||||
15 | of Banks before becoming the Cashier, Board Secretary, and Loan | ||||||
16 | Officer for the State Bank of Paw Paw; in 1985, he began | ||||||
17 | working at Dixon National Bank as an Assistant Vice President | ||||||
18 | in the loan department; in 1992, when Dixon National Bank was | ||||||
19 | sold to AMCORE, he was made Senior Vice President and Chief | ||||||
20 | Lending Officer, a position he held until March of 1999 when he | ||||||
21 | was named President and Chief Operation Officer; he was later | ||||||
22 | named a Regional Market President for the group of AMCORE banks |

1 | that he managed; in 2010, Midland States Bank purchased the | ||||||
2 | banks that he managed and he became one of three Regional | ||||||
3 | Market Presidents, having oversight of the branches in Dixon, | ||||||
4 | Oregon, Freeport, Sterling, Rock Falls, Princeton, Peru, and | ||||||
5 | Mendota; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett was involved with many community | ||||||
7 | organizations; while living in Ashton, he was a Trustee on the | ||||||
8 | Village Board, President of the Ashton Lions, a member of the | ||||||
9 | Ashton Business Association and Ashton Fire Department; he | ||||||
10 | helped organize the Ashton Summer Celebration and served as its | ||||||
11 | first President; while living and working in Dixon, he was | ||||||
12 | President of the Dixon Evening Lions Club, the Dixon Family | ||||||
13 | YMCA, and the Dixon Petunia Festival, a founder and President | ||||||
14 | of Dixon Main Street, and President and board member of the | ||||||
15 | Sinnissippi Centers and the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home | ||||||
16 | Preservation Foundation; he served on the Board and numerous | ||||||
17 | terms as President of the Great Lakes Belted Galloway | ||||||
18 | Association; he served on the board of the Dixon Chamber of | ||||||
19 | Commerce and the Sauk Valley College Foundation; he was | ||||||
20 | appointed by Mayor James Burke to serve on his Economic | ||||||
21 | Development Commission; he served on the Board of Directors for | ||||||
22 | the Dixon Fire Department Pension Plan; and
| ||||||
23 | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett received the Dixon Chamber of | ||||||
24 | Commerce Citizen of the Year Award in 1995; he was also a Dixon |

1 | Evening Lions Club Lion of the Year; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett enjoyed a lifelong interest in many | ||||||
3 | areas of history, including the Civil War, local history, and | ||||||
4 | genealogy; he enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments | ||||||
5 | for many years and shared this with his daughters and his | ||||||
6 | nephew; he wrote and self-published many books about the homes | ||||||
7 | in which he lived, several family lines, and the family | ||||||
8 | histories of his friends; he and his wife enjoyed their family | ||||||
9 | and their farm raising cattle, horses, and chickens; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett was preceded in death by his | ||||||
11 | grandchildren, Nora Katherine and William Arthur Richardson; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Lovett is survived by his loving wife, | ||||||
14 | Lisa L. Lovett; his daughters, Heather L. Lovett and Sarah J. | ||||||
15 | Lovett; his granddaughters, Haley Lenhart, Lillian Richardson, | ||||||
16 | Katherine Richardson, and Marianna Al-Ghizawat; his parents; | ||||||
17 | his siblings, Joan (Tim) Tripp and Don (Nikki) Lovett; and his | ||||||
18 | four nieces and four nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
21 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Jeffrey Arthur Lovett; | ||||||
22 | and be it further

1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
2 | presented to the family of Jeffrey Lovett as an expression of | ||||||
3 | our sympathy.
