2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Genevieve Helen "Jean" Mateja Beetschen, | ||||||
4 | formerly of Wadsworth, who passed away on May 17, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was born in Waukegan to Helen | ||||||
6 | and Joseph Mateja on August 2, 1930; she graduated from Holy | ||||||
7 | Rosary Grade School and Holy Child High School; she married | ||||||
8 | William D. Beetschen at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago on | ||||||
9 | July 4, 1954; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was employed at the Park | ||||||
11 | Theater in North Chicago, the US Steel-Cyclone Fence Division | ||||||
12 | in North Chicago, the Coonahan Door Company in North Chicago, | ||||||
13 | Jobs Inc. in Waukegan, the Illinois Beach Resort and Conference | ||||||
14 | Center in Beach Park, and the Lake County Assessor' s Office in | ||||||
15 | Waukegan; she was the co-owner of Regal Press Printers in North | ||||||
16 | Chicago; and

17 | WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was a former member of Holy | ||||||
18 | Rosary and Holy Family Church, a current member of St. | ||||||
19 | Patrick's Church, and occasionally attended Journey Church in | ||||||
20 | Kenosha, Wisconsin; she was a faithful television parishioner | ||||||
21 | of the Heart of the Nation Catholic Church Service in | ||||||
22 | Milwaukee, Wisconsin; she was a former member of the Holy |

1 | Family Church Altar and Rosary Society, Holy Child Alumni Club, | ||||||
2 | the North Chicago Jaycee's Ladies Auxiliary, the St. Patrick's | ||||||
3 | Church Funeral Luncheon Committee, and St. Patrick's | ||||||
4 | Shamrocks; she was also a former den mother with North Chicago | ||||||
5 | Cub Scout Pack 26, and was very active in all social activities | ||||||
6 | at Prairie Villa Senior Residence; she especially loved | ||||||
7 | spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, | ||||||
8 | watching old movies, and listening to her fire and police | ||||||
9 | scanner; she had deep affection for angels and collected angel | ||||||
10 | figurines; and

11 | WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen was preceded in death by her | ||||||
12 | husband, William; her parents; her twin brother, Joseph; and | ||||||
13 | her best friend for over 60 years, Joan Thompson; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Genevieve Beetschen is survived by her children, | ||||||
15 | William J. (Therese) Beetschen, Shari A. Kordecki, and Dean | ||||||
16 | (Kelly) Beetschen; her grandchildren, Samantha, Cassandra, | ||||||
17 | David, Derek, Halley, and Tanner; and her great-grandchildren, | ||||||
18 | Caeli, Caia, Amy, Kyla, Ryan, Brayden, Collyn, Alexa, and | ||||||
19 | Haley; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Genevieve Helen "Jean" Mateja Beetschen, and extend our sincere | ||||||
23 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
