SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Vivian G. Smith of Harvard, who passed
away on May 31, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was born on July 24, 1925 in
Belvidere; her parents were William and Gladys Armbruster; and
WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was a bookkeeper and a farmer; and
WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was a member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Auxiliary for many years; she was also a member of
St. John United Church of Christ in Belvidere and the Women of
the Moose in Harvard; and
WHEREAS, Vivian Smith enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cards, puzzles, flower
gardening, and bird watching; and
WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband, Merle; her brothers, William, Robert, and John
Armbruster; and an infant sister; and
WHEREAS, Vivian Smith is survived by her children, Dona
(Darryll) Russell, Wayne (Elaine) Smith, and Dale (Connie)

Smith; her grandchildren, Angela Nicol, Brian Russell, Ryan
Russell, Kristina (Chrisopher) Nacke, Stephanie Smith, Shawna
Smith, Crystal (Brace) Weeks, and Ashley (Wesley) Firlick; and
her great-grandchildren, Elyanna and Paxton Nicol, Jeremiah
Russell, Brookelynn and Katelynn Weeks, and Conner, Olivia, and
Avery Firlick; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
family and friends, mourn the passing of Vivian G. Smith; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Vivian Smith as an expression of our
sympathy.
