SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Vivian G. Smith of Harvard, who passed
4away on May 31, 2016; and
5 WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was born on July 24, 1925 in
6Belvidere; her parents were William and Gladys Armbruster; and
7 WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was a bookkeeper and a farmer; and
8 WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was a member of the Veterans of
9Foreign Wars Auxiliary for many years; she was also a member of
10St. John United Church of Christ in Belvidere and the Women of
11the Moose in Harvard; and
12 WHEREAS, Vivian Smith enjoyed spending time with her
13grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cards, puzzles, flower
14gardening, and bird watching; and
15 WHEREAS, Vivian Smith was preceded in death by her parents;
16her husband, Merle; her brothers, William, Robert, and John
17Armbruster; and an infant sister; and
18 WHEREAS, Vivian Smith is survived by her children, Dona
19(Darryll) Russell, Wayne (Elaine) Smith, and Dale (Connie)

1Smith; her grandchildren, Angela Nicol, Brian Russell, Ryan
2Russell, Kristina (Chrisopher) Nacke, Stephanie Smith, Shawna
3Smith, Crystal (Brace) Weeks, and Ashley (Wesley) Firlick; and
4her great-grandchildren, Elyanna and Paxton Nicol, Jeremiah
5Russell, Brookelynn and Katelynn Weeks, and Conner, Olivia, and
6Avery Firlick; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Vivian G. Smith; and
10be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Vivian Smith as an expression of our
13sympathy.
