| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of F. Steven "Steve" Etheridge of Moline, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on August 12, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge was born in Moline to Floyd S. and | ||||||
6 | Ida (Mattson) Etheridge on November 18, 1951; he served in the | ||||||
7 | U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and married Susan Prior | ||||||
8 | in Mt. Vernon on June 22, 1985; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge began his career with the Moline | ||||||
10 | Police Department on June 16, 1975; he was selected as the | ||||||
11 | Moline Police Chief on October 7, 1990; he was instrumental in | ||||||
12 | the building of the new Moline Police Department; he served as | ||||||
13 | Interim City of Moline Administrator; he retired as the Public | ||||||
14 | Safety Director for Moline on March 2, 2005, where he served as | ||||||
15 | the inaugural, combined Police Chief, and Fire Chief; he was a | ||||||
16 | member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and | ||||||
17 | graduated from the FBI National Academy; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge volunteered at the "Grunt Dome" | ||||||
19 | with the John Deere Classic Golf Tournament; he met daily with | ||||||
20 | his Panera Cronies Breakfast Club; he was an avid golfer, | ||||||
21 | fisherman, and "Mr. Fix-It"; most important was his family and | ||||||
22 | the time he cherished with his grandchildren; he was a member |

1 | of the Moline Jaycees; and

2 | WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | father-in-law, Jerry Peterson, and his niece, Krista Ryser; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge is survived by his wife, Susan; | ||||||
5 | his children, Melissa (Chad) Wilke, Marcey (Jason) Millage, and | ||||||
6 | Steven (Hanna) Etheridge; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Grant, | ||||||
7 | Graysyn, Tatum, Braydon, Mia, and Stella; his mother-in-law, | ||||||
8 | Marlene Peterson; his sisters, Belinda (Tom) Charleton and | ||||||
9 | Carol (James) Dolian; his brother-in-law, Michael (Fran) | ||||||
10 | Thibodeaux; his sister-in-law, Karen (George) Miklas; many | ||||||
11 | loving nieces and nephews; and the best neighbors ever, Todd | ||||||
12 | and Sue Rosenthal and their children, Keeley and Ryan; | ||||||
13 | therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | F. Steven "Steve" Etheridge, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
17 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
18 | it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Steve Etheridge as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our deepest sympathy.
