SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael Alan Barrett of Alton, who passed
4away on November 22, 2014; and
5 WHEREAS, Michael Barrett was born in Alton on September 13,
61956 to John J., Sr. and Theresa (nee McConnell) Barrett; he
7graduated from Western Illinois University in 1978; and
8 WHEREAS, After college, Michael Barrett began working at
9Barrett Heating & Cooling, Inc., eventually becoming president
10of the family business; and
11 WHEREAS, Michael Barrett was a past member of the advisory
12board of Ranken Technical College in St. Louis, Missouri; he
13was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in
14Collinsville, a proud member of Alton Knights of Columbus
15Council 460, and an emphatic St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan;
16he loved to bowl on the Knights of Columbus bowling team, and
17enjoyed golfing and boating; and
18 WHEREAS, Michael Barrett was preceded in death by his
19parents; his brother-in-law, Steve Greeling; and his nephew,
20Andrew Walter; and

1 WHEREAS, Michael Barrett is survived by his wife, Linda Lea
2(nee Day); his daughter, Emily Barrett; his son, Thomas
3Barrett; his 3 brothers, John J. Barrett, Jr. (Maria), Patrick
4L. Barrett (Frances), and Joseph M. Barrett (Nancy); and his 4
5sisters, Becky Suhre (Paul), Cathy Greeling, Theresa Kates
6(Bruce), and Chris Walters (Mike); therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Michael Alan Barrett, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Michael Barrett as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
