2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Todd Garner of Mt. Zion, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on October 30, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Todd Garner was born to Harold "Bill" and Mary | ||||||
6 | Garner on June 23, 1963; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Todd Garner was vice president of Peerless Inc. in | ||||||
8 | Decatur for 21 years; he was successful and respected by his | ||||||
9 | Peerless family; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Todd Garner served as president of the Mt. Zion | ||||||
11 | school board; he was always involved with his children's | ||||||
12 | education, and because he knew how the education system affects | ||||||
13 | the success of the entire community, it was important to him to | ||||||
14 | be involved in guiding academics and extra-curricular | ||||||
15 | activities for youth; and

16 | WHEREAS, Todd Garner attended the Holy Spirit and Holy | ||||||
17 | Family Catholic Churches; he enjoyed going to family and friend | ||||||
18 | gatherings, golfing at South Side Country Club, operating the | ||||||
19 | clock for Mt. Zion football games, and traveling to Las Vegas; | ||||||
20 | above all, he enjoyed supporting his sons in all their | ||||||
21 | interests; and

1 | WHEREAS, Todd Garner was known for being loyal, dependable, | ||||||
2 | funny, witty, smart, and generous with his time and talents; he | ||||||
3 | loved his family, friends, and community; he will be remembered | ||||||
4 | as a cherished son, loving husband, and devoted dad; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Todd Garner was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
6 | his brother, Bill Garner; his infant brother, Richard Garner; | ||||||
7 | his sister, Marilyn Garner; his brother-in-law, Richard | ||||||
8 | Elliott; and his friend, Doug Collins; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Todd Garner is survived by his wife of 29 years, | ||||||
10 | Rhonda; his sons, Jacob (special friend, Page) and Nick | ||||||
11 | (special friend, Nicole); his brothers, Larry (wife, Julie) | ||||||
12 | Garner and Steve Garner; his sisters-in-law, MaryBeth Garner | ||||||
13 | and Janet Elliott; his brother-in-law, Shawn (Becky) Taylor; | ||||||
14 | his nephews, Patrick, Brad, Scott, and Casey; and his nieces, | ||||||
15 | Kim, Nicole, Erica, Tawnie, Ashley, and Kassidy; therefore, be | ||||||

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Todd Garner and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
20 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
