2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Myron W. Shonkwiler of Arcola, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on October 10, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Myron Shonkwiler was born to Paul A. and Geneva | ||||||
6 | (Armour) Shonkwiler in Douglas County on August 31, 1938; he | ||||||
7 | married Kay Gamble in Springfield, Tennessee on July 12, 1956; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Myron Shonkwiler worked at Whisnand Hybrids since | ||||||
10 | the age of 17 and purchased the business with Pete Nacke in | ||||||
11 | 1971; he became the sole owner/operator in the mid 1980s; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Myron was a member of First Christian Church in | ||||||
13 | Arcola, where he served as a deacon and was on the board of | ||||||
14 | trustees; he also served on the Arcola Township Cemetery Board; | ||||||
15 | and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Myron Shonkwiler enjoyed tinkering in his garden, | ||||||
17 | collecting antiques, and traveling to his children's, | ||||||
18 | grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting, church, | ||||||
19 | and academic events; he was always the first one to suggest and | ||||||
20 | organize family events, as those were the times that brought | ||||||
21 | him the most happiness; throughout his life, he put his family |

2 | WHEREAS, Myron Shonkwiler was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | parents; his daughter-in-law, Melanie Shonkwiler; and his two | ||||||
4 | sisters, Charlene and Carol Ann; and

5 | WHEREAS, Myron Shonkwiler is survived by his wife of 64 | ||||||
6 | years, Kay; his three children, Cindy (Bart) Arthur, Scott | ||||||
7 | Shonkwiler, and Rick (Janice) Shonkwiler; his six | ||||||
8 | grandchildren, Jeremy (Stacy) Shonkwiler, Courtney (fiancé | ||||||
9 | Chris) Shonkwiler, Dr. Ryan (Blanca) Shonkwiler, Bradley | ||||||
10 | (Allison) Arthur, Sarah (Jeff) Thomas, and Lucas (Emma) | ||||||
11 | Shonkwiler; his 11 great-grandchildren, Brock and Braden | ||||||
12 | Shonkwiler, Carter Klapperich, Lola, Madilyn, Oliver, and | ||||||
13 | Ozcar Shonkwiler, Makenzie, Tanner, and Tenley Thomas, and baby | ||||||
14 | girl Shonkwiler, who is expected in December; and his one | ||||||
15 | brother, Dee (Jean) Shonkwiler; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
18 | Myron Shonkwiler and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
