SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George H. Miller; and
4 WHEREAS, George Miller served as president of the Township
5Officials of Illinois from 1977 to 1979 and served as the
6organization's executive director from 1979 to 1996; he also
7served as editor of the organization's magazine; and
8 WHEREAS, After his retirement from the Township Officials
9of Illinois, George Miller served the Citizens Utility Board as
10its statewide secretary; he also volunteered at the Chicago
11History Museum and was active in the Kiwanis; and
12 WHEREAS, George Miller served as Auditor and a trustee in
13Leyden Township for 12 years; he also served as president of
14the Township Officials of Cook County and took part in
15discussions to create an organization that would become the
16National Association of Towns and Townships; and
17 WHEREAS, George Miller will be fondly remembered by his
18peers as a tireless worker for township government who relished
19taking on anti-township activists with a fervor based in his
20belief that townships are essential and that they provide
21important services; and

1 WHEREAS, George Miller was the loving husband of the late
2Shirley; the beloved father of Susan (William) Hoppe and the
3late Carol Miller (Glen Ahrens); the proud grandfather of David
4(Sarah) Hoppe; the great-grandfather of Elli Hoppe; the fond
5brother of Jack (Judi) Miller; the devoted companion of Audrey
6Bundy; and the caring uncle and friend of many; therefore, be
7it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
10family and friends, mourn the passing of George H. Miller; and
11be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of George Miller as an expression of
14our sympathy.
