2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Catherine M. Petrak of Benld, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on December 5, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Catherine Petrak was born to Myrlee R. Staples and | ||||||
6 | Mae E. (McNaugh) Staples in Alton on October 19, 1932; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Catherine Petrak worked for Laclede Steel, | ||||||
8 | Mid-State Stone Quarries, Edwardsville Community School | ||||||
9 | District #7, the Macoupin County Circuit Clerk's Office, and | ||||||
10 | the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Catherine Petrak was elected to three terms as | ||||||
12 | Benld City Clerk;
she was a former township assessor and served | ||||||
13 | on the Macoupin County Board and as a precinct committeeperson; | ||||||
14 | she was a member of the Benld Area Democrat Women's Club and | ||||||
15 | the Gillespie Area Democrats; she was appointed to the Illinois | ||||||
16 | Valley Economic Development Board and was a member of the | ||||||
17 | Advisory Council to the Area Agency on Aging for Lincolnland; | ||||||
18 | she was also an active member of Build Benld; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Catherine Petrak was preceded in death by her | ||||||
20 | parents and her brothers, Robert Rudin and Roy Staples; and

1 | WHEREAS, Catherine Petrak is survived by her children, | ||||||
2 | Channing Smith Petrak (Robert) and Jody Petrak, and her | ||||||
3 | grandchildren, Gillian Smith and Emerson Smith; therefore, be | ||||||
4 | it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
7 | Catherine M. Petrak and extend our sincere
condolences to her | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it | ||||||
9 | further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
