| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Edwin Earl "Ed" Hess of Chrisman, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 16, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ed Hess was born in Danville to Harold and Vida | ||||||
6 | (Skidmore) Hess on June 20, 1941; he married Mary M. Evans at | ||||||
7 | the First Baptist Church in Clinton, Indiana on December 22, | ||||||
8 | 1968; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Ed Hess retired after a farming career of many | ||||||
10 | years; he also worked as a custodian for Chrisman Elementary | ||||||
11 | School; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Ed Hess devoted much of his life to service and | ||||||
13 | volunteerism; he was the current Brouilletts Creek Township | ||||||
14 | Clerk and a current precinct committeeman for the Edgar County | ||||||
15 | Republican Central Committee; he was especially dedicated to | ||||||
16 | the Edgar County Farm Bureau; he had been active for many years | ||||||
17 | as the Brouilletts Creek Township Director, where he was head | ||||||
18 | of the Travel Committee; The Ed Hess Volunteer of the Year | ||||||
19 | Award was named in honor of his many years of service; and

20 | WHEREAS, Ed Hess was a member of Friends Chapel Church of | ||||||
21 | Scottland, where he served as a trustee; he was a member of the |

1 | Bowling 700 Club of Terre Haute; he enjoyed cooking, catering, | ||||||
2 | traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his | ||||||
3 | four grandchildren; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Ed Hess was preceded in death by his parents; his | ||||||
5 | brother, Floyd Hess; his brothers-in-law, Bud Hutson, John | ||||||
6 | Evans, and Donald Evans; and his sister-in-law, Norma Hess; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Ed Hess is survived by his wife, Mary; his | ||||||
8 | children, Douglas (Misty) Hess and Missy (Jeff) Goeppner; his | ||||||
9 | brother, Dane (Judy) Hess; his sisters, Carolyn Hutson, Hazel | ||||||
10 | (Earl) Wyant, and Connie (Kerry) Simpson; his grandchildren, | ||||||
11 | Zack and Drew Hess and Sydney and Matt Goeppner; his | ||||||
12 | sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Evans, Sue Evans, and Phyllis Hess; | ||||||
13 | and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Edwin Earl "Ed" Hess, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
17 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
18 | further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Ed Hess as an expression of our | ||||||
21 | deepest sympathy.
