2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of LTC Jon Charles Cook of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on November 24, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jon Cook was born to William Wesley and Barbara | ||||||
6 | (Kriess) Cook in Tokyo, Japan on February 3, 1948; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Ohio State University; he married Marcia Ferris in Moline | ||||||
8 | on June 12, 1971; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Jon Cook served in the U. S. Army from 1972 until | ||||||
10 | his retirement in 1992; after his service, he worked with Army | ||||||
11 | Community Services in Army Emergency Relief on the Rock Island | ||||||
12 | Arsenal, retiring in 2014; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jon Cook was an active member of First Church of | ||||||
14 | Christ, Scientist in Moline where he served as a church clerk, | ||||||
15 | a second reader, and a Sunday school teacher; he was also a | ||||||
16 | member of Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, and the Scottish Rite | ||||||
17 | Bodies, Valley of Moline; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Jon Cook was a volunteer with the Quad Cities | ||||||
19 | Animal Recovery Team; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Jon Cook loved spending time with his family, |

1 | especially his grandchildren; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Jon Cook is survived by his wife; his two | ||||||
3 | children, William Cook and Nancy (Edward) Testa-Meyer; his two | ||||||
4 | grandchildren, Ashley Testa and Serenity Meyer; and his | ||||||
5 | step-siblings and their spouses, Roger "Tim" and Julie | ||||||
6 | Richards, Howard "Doug" and Cathy Richards, and Earl "Jeff" | ||||||
7 | Richards and Mary Giffin; therefore, be it
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
10 | LTC Jon Charles Cook and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
11 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
12 | further

13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
