2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Charles G. Rakers of Aviston, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on July 29, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Charles Rakers was born in Aviston on July 5, 1939 | ||||||
6 | to Bernard and Gertrude (nee Hellmann) Rakers, Sr.; he married | ||||||
7 | Dolores Imming on June 5, 1962 in Aviston; he was a veteran of | ||||||
8 | the United States Army Reserve; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Charles Rakers worked for Markus Cabinet | ||||||
10 | Manufacturing in Aviston, and then for Aviston Lumber for 38 | ||||||
11 | years; he retired from the Centralia Correctional Facility as a | ||||||
12 | central management services garage foreman; he was a retired | ||||||
13 | member of the Aviston Fire Department, a former Board Member | ||||||
14 | for the Village of Aviston from 1983 to 1989, the former mayor | ||||||
15 | of the Village of Aviston from 1989 to 2009, a member of the | ||||||
16 | Clinton County Board, and a member and former Chairman of the | ||||||
17 | Clinton County Republican Central Committee; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Charles Rakers enjoyed being at his clubhouse, | ||||||
19 | "Rakers Acres"; he was a member of St. Francis Parish of Assisi | ||||||
20 | in Aviston; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Charles Rakers was preceded in death by his wife, |

2 | brothers, Ben, Tony, and Al Rakers; 2 sisters, Annie Kalmer and | ||||||
3 | Mary "Sally" Haselhorst; and sisters-in-law and | ||||||
4 | brothers-in-law, Clara Rakers, Leona Rakers, Vincent Kalmer, | ||||||
5 | Rita Rakers, Vic Kalmer, Robert Haselhorst, Vince Langenhorst, | ||||||
6 | David Heimann, Walter Toennies, Arleen Lochridge, Marilyn | ||||||
7 | Kuhl, and Marge Kerkemeyer; and

8 | WHEREAS, Charles Rakers is survived by his 2 sons, Gary | ||||||
9 | (Kathleen) Rakers and Michael (Kimberly) Rakers; 5 | ||||||
10 | grandchildren, April (Jason) Kohnen, Amanda (David) Erlinger, | ||||||
11 | Jessica Rakers, Jacob Rakers, and Ben Rakers; 2 | ||||||
12 | great-grandchildren, Sarah and Meagan Kohnen; a brother, Jim | ||||||
13 | (Marilyn) Rakers; 4 sisters, Rita Kalmer, Delores Langenhorst, | ||||||
14 | Johanna Heimann, and Julie Toennies; brothers-in-law and | ||||||
15 | sister-in-law, Robert Lochridge, Matthew Kuhl, Paul | ||||||
16 | Kerkemeyer, and Ruth and Raymond Blumenstein; and many nieces, | ||||||
17 | nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Charles G. Rakers, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
22 | further

23 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
