| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jerrold Calvin "JJ" Johnson of | ||||||
4 | Springfield, who passed away on October 24, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was born to Johnnie and Georgia | ||||||
6 | Mae Johnson in Oak Grove, Louisiana on August 11, 1936; after | ||||||
7 | serving in the Army Reserves for two years, he entered the | ||||||
8 | United States Air Force and attained the rank of a Master | ||||||
9 | Sergeant; he proudly served his country for 22 years; he loved | ||||||
10 | learning and earned three associate degrees, two bachelor's | ||||||
11 | degrees, a master's degree, and eventually a Ph.D.; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson worked for the Illinois | ||||||
13 | Department of Economic Development for 20 years, retiring in | ||||||
14 | 2012 as a Manpower Planner 3; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was a dedicated member of Pilgrim | ||||||
16 | Rest Baptist Church where he sang in the men's choir and the | ||||||
17 | senior choir; he volunteered at the Boys and Girls Clubs of | ||||||
18 | America and mentored many young men into adulthood; and

19 | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson enjoyed his free time by avidly | ||||||
20 | consuming world news and events to expand his knowledge base; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson was preceded in death by his | ||||||
2 | parents; his sisters, Percilla Patrick and Earline Clay; his | ||||||
3 | daughter, Monique Johnson; and his long-time companion, Gloria | ||||||
4 | Jean Madison Jordan; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jerrold Johnson is survived by his son, Enrico | ||||||
6 | (Cathy) Johnson, from his earlier marriage to Gurtha Rene Lee; | ||||||
7 | his daughters, Carla Renee Jordan, Crystal Lynn Jordan, and | ||||||
8 | Csylii Ann Jordan; his 13 grandchildren, his nine | ||||||
9 | great-grandchildren; and his several nieces and nephews; | ||||||
10 | therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

13 | Jerrold Calvin "JJ" Johnson and extend our sincere
condolences | ||||||
14 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be | ||||||
