2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of George D. Ginder of New City, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on January 22, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, George Ginder was born in Springfield to Mary Ruth | ||||||
6 | (Matthew) and Lloyd David Ginder on November 26, 1944; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Glenwood High School in Chatham in 1962 and | ||||||
8 | earned a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in | ||||||
9 | 1966; he married Cheryl Elizabeth Koerper at St. John's | ||||||
10 | Lutheran Church in Mendota on July 17, 1966 and earned a | ||||||
11 | master's degree from the University of Illinois in 1970; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, George Ginder taught vocational agriculture from | ||||||
13 | 1966 to 1969 at Arming, Minier, and McLean High Schools; he | ||||||
14 | then returned to the New City area to teach science at Glenwood | ||||||
15 | Junior High School from 1969 to 1994 and farm with his family; | ||||||
16 | he enjoyed raising Black Angus Cattle; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, George Ginder was a member of Good Shepherd | ||||||
18 | Lutheran Church in Rochester, where he served on various boards | ||||||
19 | and in numerous roles, including as congregation president, | ||||||
20 | elder, and Sunday school teacher; his family and grandchildren | ||||||
21 | were central to his life, as were his friends who met regularly | ||||||
22 | in "Butch's Basement", where all were welcome and no one was a |

1 | stranger; he watched a multitude of games when his sons played | ||||||
2 | baseball and put aside his fear of flying to visit his daughter | ||||||
3 | in Puerto Rico; after retiring from teaching, he and Cheryl | ||||||
4 | enjoyed day trips with friends; he was an avid fan of Illini | ||||||
5 | Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, George Ginder was preceded in death by his | ||||||
7 | parents; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, George Ginder is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his | ||||||
9 | sons, David, Matthew (Jill), and Steven (Corinne); his | ||||||
10 | daughter, Ruth (Scott); 15 grandchildren; his sister, Alice | ||||||
11 | (Allen); seven cousins; and four nieces and nephews; therefore, | ||||||
12 | be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | George D. Ginder and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
16 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of George Ginder as an expression of | ||||||
20 | our deepest sympathy.
