2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Harold E. "Kal" Kalbas of Elgin, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 15, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kal Kalbas was born in Chicago to Wenzel and Anna | ||||||
6 | Kalbas on November 5, 1926; he was a proud veteran of the | ||||||
7 | United States Navy and served in both World War II and Korea; | ||||||
8 | he married Elizabeth M. "Betty" McQueen on February 20, 1954; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Kal Kalbas was a bricklayer and loyal member of | ||||||
11 | Bricklayers Union Local #21 of Chicago for 50 years; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Kal Kalbas was a member of the St. Catherine of | ||||||
13 | Siena Catholic Church in West Dundee; he was honored to | ||||||
14 | participate in Honor Flight Chicago; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Kal Kalbas was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
16 | his wife, Betty; his brothers, William and Raymond Kalbas; and | ||||||
17 | his sisters, Caroline Barnowski and Jeannette Gross; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Kal Kalbas is survived by his children, Jeffrey R. | ||||||
19 | (Gina) Kalbas, Kristine K. (Barry) Zeglin, Timothy D. Kalbas, | ||||||
20 | Michael A. (Michele) Kalbas, and Margaret K. (John P.) Fahy; |

1 | his grandchildren, Kelly, Katie, Julianne, Colleen, Kathleen, | ||||||
2 | Alissa, Anthony, and Jack; his brother, Dennis (Lois) Kalbas; | ||||||
3 | and his many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Harold E. "Kal" Kalbas and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
7 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
8 | further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Kal Kalbas as an expression of our | ||||||
11 | deepest sympathy.
