2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Kenneth E. "Ken" Frels of Coal Valley, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on November 3, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ken Frels was born to Floyd and Lila (Wainright) | ||||||
6 | Frels in Barstow on November 20, 1931; he married Donna | ||||||
7 | DePorter in East Moline on May 22, 1954; he served in the U.S. | ||||||
8 | Army in Korea during the Korean War; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Ken Frels worked at the former Desaulniers | ||||||
10 | Printing Co. for 44 years, where he retired as president; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Ken Frels was a member of St. Maria Goretti | ||||||
12 | Church in Coal Valley and American Legion Post 246 in Moline; | ||||||
13 | and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Ken Frels enjoyed his John Deere riding lawn | ||||||
15 | mower, giving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren rides; | ||||||
16 | he also enjoyed woodworking, cars, and all sports, especially | ||||||
17 | college football; he dearly loved his family; and

18 | WHEREAS, Ken Frels was preceded in death by his brother, | ||||||
19 | Melvin; and

1 | WHEREAS, Ken Frels is survived by his wife; his children, | ||||||
2 | Steve (Valerie) Frels, Linda (Ed) Johnson, and John (Monica) | ||||||
3 | Frels; his grandchildren, Michael (Angela) Frels, Jenny (Tom) | ||||||
4 | Lenger, Thomas Johnson, Andrew Frels, Kate Frels, and Ryan | ||||||
5 | Frels; his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Tyler, Clare, Shane, | ||||||
6 | and Carter; his brothers, Ted Frels and Everett Frels; and his | ||||||
7 | sister-in-law, Kathy Neilson; therefore, be it
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
9 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

10 | Kenneth E. "Ken" Frels and extend our sincere
condolences to | ||||||
11 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
