2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Lori Jamae Wilcox, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | October 10, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lori Wilcox was born on October 29, 1976; she was | ||||||
6 | a combat veteran, enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 17 | ||||||
7 | and participating in missions worldwide, including Operation | ||||||
8 | Joint Guard in Bosnia; she pursued advanced degrees, including | ||||||
9 | a Doctorate in Education, and earned certifications as a | ||||||
10 | Master Municipal Clerk; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Lori Wilcox was a trailblazer, making history as | ||||||
12 | the first elected City Clerk of Chicago Heights, a position | ||||||
13 | she served across three successful terms, ending in 2023; she | ||||||
14 | was previously elected as committeeman of the Bloom Township | ||||||
15 | Democrats in 2018, becoming the second woman and youngest | ||||||
16 | person to hold the role, and she served as co-chair of the Cook | ||||||
17 | County Democratic Party's Outreach Committee; and

18 | WHEREAS, Lori Wilcox was founder and CEO of Resilience | ||||||
19 | Unveiled: Revive, Renew & Revamp (R34u), a collaborative | ||||||
20 | initiative designed to support and uplift women in service; | ||||||
21 | she was also an author and advocate, sharing her personal | ||||||
22 | journey of healing and transformation through her books, |

2 | WHEREAS, Lori Wilcox was a dedicated member of Rotary | ||||||
3 | International, contributing as a leader and an international | ||||||
4 | liaison, by which she fostered connections across cultures | ||||||
5 | through Friendship Exchanges; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Lori Wilcox served as a mentor, guiding several | ||||||
7 | women to become judges and helping many others succeed in | ||||||
8 | politics and business; she supported veteran initiatives, | ||||||
9 | cancer survivors, and community outreach programs, and she | ||||||
10 | pursued mentoring and volunteering at local schools, churches, | ||||||
11 | and nursing homes; and

12 | WHEREAS, Lori Wilcox was the devoted mother of three | ||||||
13 | exceptional children, nurturing their academic and athletic | ||||||
14 | success while embodying her belief in personal growth and | ||||||
15 | education; and

16 | WHEREAS, Lori Wilcox's life reflects her commitment to | ||||||
17 | service, resilience, and empowering others, and her impact | ||||||
18 | will continue to inspire the many lives she touched; | ||||||
