2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John William Comerio of Springfield, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 25, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Comerio was born in Herrin to Mario Louis and | ||||||
6 | Clara Lutostanski Comerio on May 23, 1942; he earned his | ||||||
7 | bachelor's degree in 1965 and his master's degree in 1966 from | ||||||
8 | the University of Illinois; he married Judith Ann Hilger in | ||||||
9 | Champaign on December 26, 1966; he served as an artillery | ||||||
10 | officer in the U. S. Army in Vietnam; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, John Comerio was employed for nearly 30 years with | ||||||
12 | the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, eventually | ||||||
13 | serving as Deputy Director until his retirement in 1999; after | ||||||
14 | retiring, he worked as the Development Director for the | ||||||
15 | Illinois Association of Park Districts; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, John Comerio was an avid supporter of therapy | ||||||
17 | dogs, which he personally trained to provide comfort to people | ||||||
18 | in nursing homes throughout Springfield; he was also an avid | ||||||
19 | fan of the Chicago Cubs; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, John Comerio was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, John Comerio is survived by his wife, Judith; his | ||||||
2 | son, Anthony "Tony" (Theresa) Comerio; his daughter, Carrie | ||||||
3 | Comerio; his grandchildren, John "Jack" and Nicolas "Nico" | ||||||
4 | Comerio and Gabrielle Casciato; his brother, Michael Gene | ||||||
5 | (Cathy) Comerio; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; | ||||||
6 | therefore, be it

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | John William Comerio and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
11 | further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of John Comerio as an expression of our | ||||||
14 | deepest sympathy.
