2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Francis W. Copeland D.V.M of Bettendorf, | ||||||
4 | Iowa, who passed away on December 17, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Francis Copeland was born near Yorktown, Iowa to | ||||||
6 | Harry W. and Emma (Meyers) Copeland on September 23, 1922 and | ||||||
7 | grew up in rural Shenandoah; he graduated from Iowa State | ||||||
8 | University and served in the United States Army Air Corps as a | ||||||
9 | P-38 pilot during World War II; he married Eleanor Heinrich; | ||||||
10 | and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Francis Copeland began farming after the war; he | ||||||
12 | then continued his education and earned his degree in | ||||||
13 | veterinary medicine; he moved with his family to Prophetstown | ||||||
14 | in 1958, where he began his practice, retiring in 1987; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Francis Copeland was preceded in death by his | ||||||
16 | parents; his brother, Verral H. Copeland; and his sisters, Fern | ||||||
17 | Otte and Dorthy Hughes; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Francis Copeland is survived by his son, Rod W. | ||||||
19 | (Linda) Copeland; his daughter, Jane (Jeff Miller) | ||||||
20 | Chiappinelli; his grandchildren, Elena (Bob) Casper and Evan | ||||||
21 | Chiappinelli; and his great-granddaughter, Lilliana Casper; |

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | Francis W. Copeland D.V.M., and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
5 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
6 | it further
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Francis Copeland as an expression of | ||||||
9 | our deepest sympathy.
